DOUBLE THE FUNK! – SUPER MASSIVE SUPPORT SKUNKHOUR FOR GOLD COAST & CALOUNDRA SHOWS
Thursday 15 and Friday 16 October 2026
Exciting news! After a fantastic night headlining Opening Night of Bleach Festival 2026 last Thursday, we are thrilled to be playing two Queensland shows supporting Australian funk-rock pioneers Skunkhour on their Back To Basics 26 tour. Sorry for the short notice – we've only just been given the go-ahead to announce it!
Here are the dates and ticket links:
THURS 15 OCT - GOLD COAST - COOLANGATTA HOTEL - Doors 7:30pm - Tickets via Oztix
FRI 16 OCT - CALOUNDRA - NORTON'S MUSIC FACTORY - Doors 6:30pm - Tickets via Oztix
We'll be playing a set of our funkiest, slamming disco, electro and funk-rock tracks, including some of the new tunes we've just recorded for our album. Get out the dancing shoes, because this is one hell of a funky double bill.
To get you in the mood for this funk bonanza, we have compiled a Spotify playlist for your listening pleasure:
We are so looking forward to these shows!! We've liked Skunkhour's songs for years - we both bought CDs of their debut album way back in 1993 – and we've both seen them live many, many times at a lot of different music venues, going way back to gigs at places like Napoleon's Hotel and Manning Bar in Sydney, in the early 90s.
We were hooked in by their Commodores-esque style of funk and slick lyrics - serious standouts in an era when funk was the vibe of the town and there were so many funky bands around, from The Strange to Professor Groove, to Nikka Cost's old band Sugarbone, to name a few.
Malina played a couple of shows with Skunkhour, back when she was playing bass in her first band The Green Light, so playing with them in Super Massive in 2026 is a Saturn Return of sorts! Can't wait.
We are getting close to finishing mastering on our debut album, so we recommend you subscribe to our mailing list so we can let you know when we have a new single out and more shows.
All the best!
